GOT QUESTIONS?

Have a question? Here are a few of the questions we’re asked most often.

What are Adventure Trails?

Adventure Trails are self-guided, location-based escape-room adventures set in real places. Each trail leads you through a series of locations using puzzles and clues, uncovering hidden stories as you explore at your own pace.

They’re designed to turn ordinary streets, routes, and landmarks into an interactive experience you complete together.

Do I need to book an Adventure Trail?

All Adventure Trails are completely self-guided. You explore at your own pace, with no groups, schedules, or guides.

How long do Adventure Trails take?

Most walking trails take 2–3 hours, but you can pause, stop for food, or come back to it later. Driving trails are designed to be a day-long adventure.

What ages is this suitable for?

Our trails are designed for families, with puzzles that work best for children roughly 7–14, but younger and older kids often enjoy joining in too.

Do we need anything special?

Just your Trail (digital or printed), a pen or pencil, and a sense of curiosity. Each Trail location also has a QR-code linked webpage where you will find optional photo challenges and extra information, so you may want to take photos or videos of the places you explore. We also use what3words to help you find locations (if you need to use it), and there is an app available if you prefer to use that over a webpage.

Is this like an escape room?

It’s an escape-room-style experience, but spread across real places rather than one room.

Is it walking or driving?

We offer both walking and driving trails, clearly labelled on each trail page.

What if we can't find one of the locations?

It happens sometimes. Our trails include clear directions, and we also use what3words to help you find exact locations. If you need to double-check where you are, you can use these tools and carry on without missing out.

Are Adventure Trails accessible?

Because our trails take place in real locations, accessibility can vary from place to place. We always aim to make our trails as inclusive as possible and, where feasible, offer alternative routes between clues.

What happens if I can't solve a clue?

Don’t worry. Each trail includes QR codes that link to a dedicated Trail Hub with extra help for every clue. If you get stuck, you can access hints, location help, and a gentle reveal so you can keep moving and enjoy the adventure without frustration.

This means no dead ends and no pressure, ensuring that you’re always able to carry on at your own pace.

What if we don’t finish the trail?

No problem. You can take breaks, revisit clues, or come back another day.

I don't have a printer. Can I use my phone?

Yes. You don’t need a printer at all. All Adventure Trails can be used directly on your phone, with everything you need accessible as you go. If you prefer to hold something in your hands, physical trail booklets are also available.

Some families choose to print parts of the trail to write on, but this is completely optional. Using your phone also makes it easy to pick up another nearby trail on the spot if you finish one and want to keep exploring.

Can I test new Adventure Trails or be involved?

Yes. Our Clue Crew helps us research new locations and shape future trails, and every Adventure Trail is tested by at least 10 families before it’s launched. This helps us make sure each trail is enjoyable, clear, and works well in the real world. If you want to find out more, you can email cluecrew@goadventuretrails.com

What is the Clue Crew?

The Clue Crew helps us design Adventure Trails in real locations. Members explore new areas, help research routes, and test ideas before a trail is launched. Every trail is shaped with input from real families and tested to make sure it works as an enjoyable, real-world adventure.

Where do you ship to?

We ship Adventure Trails worldwide, and we also have the option of purchasing digital downloads of each trail as an alternative.

  • UK: Free postage

  • International: We ship to Europe, South Africa, the USA, Canada, Australia, and many other locations. Shipping rates vary depending on destination.

All physical trails are shipped from the UK, and delivery times vary by location. Estimated delivery times and shipping costs are shown at checkout.

Can I suggest a new location?

Yes. We’re always interested in new locations. Through the Clue Crew, families can suggest areas, help research routes, and contribute ideas that shape future Adventure Trails. Not every suggestion becomes a trail, but many of our locations start with ideas from people who know an area well.
